Småkraft recognised as industry leader on sustainability

Småkraft achieves five out of five stars in sustainability benchmarking

For the second year in a row, Småkraft proudly receives five out of five stars in a sustainability benchmarking study performed by the leading global sustainability benchmarking organization GRESB. Five stars is the highest rating and recognition for being an industry leader. Småkrafts score of 83 is the highest in its peer- group.“We are very proud that Småkraft again improved its sustainability scores for a third consecutive year,” says CEO Terje Vedeler. “The five stars recognize both our sustainable business model and the embedded processes to make our interaction with nature and society transparent.”

Småkraft partners with local communities to create renewable energy together

Småkraft develops and operates small- scale hydropower plants with a fleet of around 120 power plants. Small-scale hydropower borrows water which naturally flow in the river and utilizes the topography of the landscape to produce renewable and sustainable electricity. A minimum water level is maintained in the original river and the water used to produce electricity is returned once it passes through the turbine. The electricity grid transports and distributes our electricity out to consumers.

Småkrafts long term goal is to generate as much renewable energy over time by utilizing the natural resources gently and efficiently. The monetary and social values created are shared with our stakeholders including owners, creditors & debt investors, local landowners, local municipalities, local societies, and society in general.
