The power plant will utilise a fall height of 540 m. The intake will be a elevation 900 and the power station will be placed at elevation 360. Water will be led through a shaft/tunnel from the intake down to the power station. The power station itself will be built on the ground, just inside the tunnel.
By designing Kvemma power plant as a facility in the mountain, we can avoid a major intervention in steep terrain, which must be considered a significant advantage. This solution also ensures greater safety during the construction and operation phase in relation to possible landslides in the steep terrain.
Bergteamet AB is the main contractor for the tunnel and raise drilling, while Sogn Entreprenør is responsible for intake and power station. Electromechanical equipment is supplied by Spetals Verk and Brødrene Dahl has supplied the waterway equipment.
