The Spilling power plant is located in Lindesnes municipality, Agder county.
The Spilling power plant utilises an approx. 20 km2 catchment area in the hills between the valleys of Mandalen and Audnedalen in Lindesnes municipality.
A mill stood just behind today’s power plant, which in the early 1900s also supplied the Spilling farm with enough electricity for lamps from a small generator.
Just downstream is a water saw and a rake factory that was operated from the same watercourse. These received electrical power from the same watercourse.
The landowners first applied for a licence exemption for a smaller power plant, but when Hydro Pool AS, as the developer, came into the picture, an application for licensing was submitted.
The licence was granted in late 2006 and construction began in the autumn of 2007. The power plant delivered its first power to the grid on 28 October 2008.
